Sasol League National Champs semi-finalists undecided

By the end of day 2 of the 2024 Sasol League National Championship currently underway in Knysna, Western Cape, it was not clear which of the eight teams in the tournament will progress to the semi-finals.

One thing was certain, however, only the University of North West was eliminated from the contest after back-to-back defeats.

They were defeated 3-2 by Kovsies in their first match before going down to Royal Wizards by the same margin.

NWU’s demise means the province will continue to be without a team in the Hollywoodbets Super League for another season.

In other results on day two, Super Strikers had a narrow 1-0 victory over FC Raycon who were playing their first match, while 2023 returnees University of Cape Town drew 1-1 against Ezemvelo Ladies.

As matters stand, Group C’s Super Strikers of Mpumalanga and KwaZulu Natal’s Ezemvelo in Group A have one foot in the last four after accumulating four points each in two games.

Group B is a very tightly contested affair with both Kovsies FC of the Free State and Northern Cape’s Royals tied on three points each – they face each other on the final day of the group stage matches.

FC Raycon and Sophakama Ladies are yet to register points and will be hoping for better returns on Thursday.

Only the top three winners will proceed to the semi-finals where they will be joined by the best second-placed team.
