Who will be crowned 2024 Sasol League National Champions

The stage is set for the 2024 Sasol League National Championship where nine provincial teams will go into battle for the ultimate honour of being crowned national winners.

Lindelani Ladies and the University of Fort Hare were promoted from this competition last year.

Representing their provinces in 2024 are, Ramatlaohle Ladies (Limpopo), Super Strikers (Mpumalanga), FC Raycon (Gauteng), Kovsies FC (Free State), North West University (North West), Royal Wizards (Northern Cape), Sophakama (Eastern Cape), Ezemvelo (KwaZulu) and the University of Cape Town (Western Cape).

It was a tough road for the nine teams to reach this stage.

After winning their stream in Western Cape without losing a match, UCT brushed aside Magic Ladies for a spot in the finals, while Executive Ladies bit the dust as they fell to Sophakama Ladies in the final hurdle in the Eastern Cape.

In the Free State last year’s finalists Ixias FC took on Kovsies FC but failed to make any inroads, but the students will be under pressure to do well the province has not had a team since 2022 after the relegation of Tsunami Queens.

In Mpumalanga, Super Strikers Ladies denied 2023 winners, Sasol Juventus, while FC Raycon will represent Gauteng at the expense of Mito Stars.

Royal Queens of North West almost made a return to the national play-offs but NWU proved too strong for them in the end.

Both Newcastle Chess and Ezemvelo Ladies finished unbeaten in their respective streams but the latter prevailed when it mattered the most and will represent KwaZulu Natal in Knysna.

Northern Cape’s defending champions Royal Wizards reigned supreme once again as they knocked out NC Consciousness to book their place among the elite.
