Ramovic resigned from Yanga in November 2024 after leaving his role at Betway Premiership side TS Galaxy. The German-born coach spent only two months at Yanga, where his tenure was largely successful.
During his time in charge, Ramovic managed six league games with Young Africans, winning all of them. However, his side was knocked out of the CAF Champions League group stages just weeks ago.
Ramovic caused a stir when he left Young Africans for Algerian club CR Belouizdad. He made the switch shortly after submitting his resignation from the Dar es Salaam-based team.
Now, the coach has spoken out to justify his decision, explaining that he wanted to test himself in a more competitive league.
"As a coach, moments like this are what you live for. Leaving Yanga was a tough decision, but when the opportunity at CR Belouizdad arose, it was one I couldn't pass up," Ramovic said during an interview on Sports Night Amplified with host Andile Ncube on Metro FM.
"The league in Algeria offers a higher level of competition, with top-quality opposition every week, and that's what I've always wanted for myself as a coach,
"Young Africans is undoubtedly the best club in Tanzania. There are really only three teams in Tanzania that compete for the league – Young Africans, Simba SC, and Azam FC.
"My move to CR Belouizdad was all about challenging myself and improving as a coach. It had nothing to do with money or any supposed issues with players.
"I made the decision to join one of the top teams in Africa, and while I knew rumors would spread about why I left Yanga, I'm not concerned by it."
In the Tanzanian Premier League, Yanga currently sits at the top of the table with 45 points from 17 matches, a point ahead of second-place Simba SC, led by South African coach Fadlu Davids.
