It was a dream start for the Rockets, who went up two goals in the opening five minutes. First, Spphiwe Mahlangu provided a perfect through ball for Dzenan Zajmovic, then the Belgian bagged his brace two minutes later when he combined nicely with Pusa Dithejane.
TS Galaxy made it three on the half-hour mark when the talented Keagan Dolly drove the ball onto the top left corner with his left foot from outside the box.
There was more pain for the visitors when Marks Munyani made it 4-0 with a smart freekick from outside the box.
With the result virtual a forgone conclusion, TS Galaxy manager Andan Beganovic rang four changes at the half. The match slowed down and while the hosts enjoyed most of the ball, Vasco da Gama enjoyed some periods of parity until the final stanza.
With nine minutes to go, provider Thamsanqa Masiya teed up replacement Thokozani Sibanyoni who found the back of the net from close range. That re-opened the floodgates as Sibanyoni got his second from an improbable angle just five minutes later, beating the keeper to the near post.
Damie Sovsic made it seven in the 88th minute with a casual yet deadly accurate strike from the outside of his boot that left the already beleaguered Vasco da Gama gloveman flatfooted.
TS Galaxy to go on to face Durban City in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16.
