Tembo facing uncertain Sekhukhune future
SABC Sport has established that Sekhukhune United coach Kaitano Tembo faces an uncertain future and might only have the upcoming game against TS Galaxy to save his job with Babina Noko.
With just two wins in the DStv Premiership so far and a single point above the automatic relegations spot, indications are that the former SuperSport United tactician could be given an ultimatum by his bosses.
According to information gathered by the public broadcasters sports desk, it is understood Sekhukhune are already assessing other viable options to take over should management decide to pull the trigger on Tembo.
The club went big during the recent transfer window, signing top players like Victor Letsoalo, Linda Mntambo, Tshegofatso Mabasa and Daniel Cardoso, with the expectation that the coach would hit the ground running.
Babina Noko finished in 11th place last season and Tembo had said his mandate was to improve on that, and the transfer activity supported his sentiments.
Our start hasnt been good, Tembo said after a recent match.
There are games where we drew when we should have won, we dropped points. But, in terms of how we have been playing, we have been doing well.
Asked directly about his job security, the coach said it wasnt in his hands.
I dont have control of that. All I can do is continue working hard and try to improve the team. Whatever happens, happens. Thats football. My focus is on the team. I think we are five points away from what we want to be. We could have been in a better position, he concluded.
