Marumo Gallants talisman Miguel Timm is edging closer to a move to Gauteng ahead of next season, SABC Sport understands.
The midfielder has had a phenomenal season for the Limpopo outfit and was again their stand-out player in the 2-1 Nedbank Cup final defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday night.
But SABC Sport has it on good authority that Timm could be lost to the club - he is in the final month of his contract and isnt likely to stay beyond 30 June.
According to information obtained by this website, Sekhukhune United appear to have made progress in talks to sign the former Chippa United and Maritzburg United creative player, offering him a fresh start for the upcoming 2022/23 season.
Timm is expected to agree terms with Babina Noko in the coming days, barring any attempts by their DStv Premiership rivals to hijack the deal.
Following the Nedbank Cup final in Phokeng, coach Daniel Malesela was asked if he thought the club would be able to hold on to its core players, and he singled out intentions from management to keep Timm, specifically.
A lot of the players are still contracted to the club and nothing concrete has been tabled for any particular player, Malesela said during his post-match press conference.
There are a few, like Miguel, whose contracts are ending. But we are trying to keep everybody. It will probably be difficult, even if people are contracted. It makes coaching easy, it makes progress easier and you dont have to start afresh in terms of solidifying the philosophy. But you never know. If we can keep the majority of the players, then we are one step ahead of a lot of things. But it depends¦when you work for a club with limited resources, you must just cross your fingers and hope you dont lose players.
