The dip in his playing time has ignited rumours of a potential departure, prompting comments from the club's sporting director, Rouven Schroder.
When questioned about a possible January move for Werner, Schroder, speaking to BILD, remained open to the idea without confirming anything. "I wouldn't say that right now. We are looking at the squad as usual, and there will certainly be players who say they have something else in mind. We will face that," Schroder explained.
Highlighting the performance-driven nature of the sport, Schroder acknowledged that if others are currently ahead, Werner is a professional who accepts the challenge. "There is a performance principle to some extent. And if others are ahead at the moment, then Timo is also someone who faces the whole thing and accepts it," he added.
Acknowledging Werner's challenging period, Schroder reassured, "Nevertheless, we support him. Timo will overcome this." The 27-year-old, who has been part of various clubs in his career, played for TSV Steinhaldenfeld, VfB Stuttgart, Chelsea FC, and has had two stints with RB Leipzig.
In the ongoing season, Werner has found the back of the net twice, reflecting a struggle to replicate his previous goal-scoring form. As speculations swirl around his future, the football world watches closely to see how this chapter in Timo Werner's career unfolds.
