University of Fort Hare to appoint new coach ahead of second HWBSL campaign

University of Fort Hare Sports Officer Sibabalo Feni has confirmed that the team will introduce a new coach ahead of their second season in the Hollywoodbets Super League.

The Eastern Cape outfit successfully retained their league status as newcomers, having finished 9th place on the log, just three points behind the University of Pretoria Ladies.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Feni says supporters of the Baby Wolves should expect a few new faces as they have already made 40% changes within the technical team.

“Definitely we will have changes in the technical team. We will introduce a new coach. Remember last year we changed coaches twice, we started with Mr Asanda Mnakaniso and within three to four months we changed to a co-coaches set up, with Mr Sipho Cottage and Mr Sphamandla Mbele. I can confirm that we have changed 40% of our technical team and we will introduce everyone soon,’’ said Feni

Feni says the team dedicated its debut season in the Super League to learning and building a solid foundation for 2025.

“Last year we honestly started on the right football and I think we now have a good foundation ahead of the new season,’’ the administrator added.

The 36-year-old seasoned football administrator adds that the team has been approached by some players from other teams in the league, and will soon be training with the team - this will help boost their squad as they aim for a top four finish this season.

“We have been approached by many good players from other teams in the league, we will give the opportunity to train with the team and see if they fit. This will be important to help the team to compete for top four,’’ added Feni.

Feni says this season the team will have to pick up from last year’s momentum and maintain consistency as they aim to not only retain the league status but to also achieve their top four target.

“First of all, we thank the University for supporting the team. Well this season will be all about picking up from last’s momentum and we want consistency to reach our top target,’’ he expressed.
