Vincent Kompany confident Bayern Munich can overturn Champions League deficit in Milan

Vincent Kompany remains confident Bayern Munich can still progress into the UEFA Champions League semifinals despite falling to a 2-1 defeat at home against Inter Milan on Tuesday.

The German giants fell behind when Lautaro Martinez scored for Inter in the 38th minute but veteran forward Thomas Muller came off the bench to equalise for the hosts with five minutes remaining.

With the first-leg tie looking to be headed for draw, the Italian side stunned Bayern with a later winner through Davide Frattesi.

"In the first half we were very dominant. We had clear chances and should have scored more goals," Kompany told reporters after the game.

"Inter's ahead, but we need to win in Milan. Results aren't always fair, but it's half-time.

"We were confident and it's a shame Inter scored this late goal, but we'll have the chance again in Milan, that's how we feel. We're fully believing in our chances in Milan."

Bayern forward Harry Kane added: There's 90 minutes to play and we've got the players to turn it around. Inter celebrated like they won the tie there at the end, but it's all there to play for.

"We created enough opportunities to hurt them and if we do the same next week, we can turn it around."
