The Buccaneers won all four matches during that period, a record that was enough for the Spaniard to pip counterparts Raymond Mdaka of Marumo Gallants and Stellenbosch FC’s Steve Barker.
At a press conference on Thursday ahead of facing Sekhukhune United in the DStv Premiership on Saturday, Riveiro commented on the accolade.
"I think we are the 'team of the month' more than 'coach of the month'. It's always going to be individual awards in football but I think it was a fantastic month. The performance of the team was brilliant. We managed to get fantastic results. The truth of the matter is we were probably the best team in the month and hopefully we can do it again now in May," he said.
The road to perhaps adding to those accolades continues against Babina Noko, a side Pirates will also face in the Nedbank Cup final on May 27.
Riveiro wants to win to hold on to the CAF Champions League spot.
"The next objective for us is to consolidate our position in the log and make sure that we can be in the second position. I'm not thinking at all about the cup final and who's going to be our opponent in the cup final,'' the coach added.
The Pirates coach doesn’t expect the two games to be the same.
"Finals are different games than league fixtures so we are trying to prepare for the game, especially mentally."
