Despite this hiatus, the French legend remains resolute in his commitment to not take on a managerial role unless a compelling opportunity arises. While his initial aspiration was to guide the French national team, the recent renewal of Didier Deschamps' contract has closed that avenue.
However, with the Euro 2024 set to unfold in Germany this summer, the dynamics could shift.
As reported by Diario AS, in a recent appearance at the premiere of a documentary featuring Marcello Lippi, his former coach at Juventus, Zidane expressed his desire to return to coaching. He mused about the prospect of managing in Italy, stating, "One day coaching in Italy? Why not? Anything can happen, but for now, I'm engaged in something else. I am confident that I will return to the dugout; I would like to coach again."
As of now, Zidane is without a managerial position, but several high-profile vacancies across Europe, including those at Bayern, Liverpool, and Juventus, are not ruled out by the French maestro.
Reflecting on his time at Juventus, Zidane acknowledged Lippi's pivotal role in his career, saying, "Marcello Lippi was the one who brought me to Juventus, the first to believe in me and let me play. It wasn't easy for him; I came from France, everything was different, but Lippi helped me become what I later became." Zidane also reminisced about other influential coaches in his playing career, such as Lippi and Carlo Ancelotti, emphasizing the individual journey each player must undertake.
As football enthusiasts ponder the unfolding of events in Zidane's career, the Euro 2024 could potentially mark the resurgence of the football maestro on the touchline, with speculation surrounding managerial opportunities in prominent European clubs.
