Kaizer Chiefs had coach Arthur Zwane says the players deserve all the credit for the hard-fought 2-1 victory over SuperSport United in a DStv Premiership match played at the FNB stadium last night.
Coming into the game, Chiefs had not won in their last three matches and fought back from 1-0 down to win 2-1, thanks to a brace from newly-signed Burundian international striker Caleb Bimenyimana.
On what was Bimenyimanas first start since his arrival at the club, the 1.9m-tall striker made full use of the opportunity and Zwane had been preaching about being patient with him.
"I must commend the players, I think they put in a great performance. Let alone the results, I think we were switched on, though we started a bit slow - for about 20 minutes, we did not create enough chances and get our foot on the ball but I think just after we conceded the goal, it was more like a wake-up call for us," said Zwane.
"Caleb is giving us a different dimension. We have a lot of nippy players that are really good in one-versus-one and who are not that tall on the ball but very mobile. So, Caleb is strong with the ball and he's very quick to attack.
"He's explosive to attack the near-post and we needed that kind of striker, and that is why we had to take our time in terms of bringing someone in, and we had to make sure that when he comes in, we need to compliment him.
"Because it's pointless to bring a player and he's not fitting or assisting the way we want to play, and we had to also profile him properly. When we brought him, we were sure that this is how he can help us, in terms of making sure that our game improves in the final third."
