According to the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA), about 30 tacticians have signed up for the program that is being spread over three blocks, over eight days and exams to follow from 22-25 January next year.

Walters, who has travelled with another ex-PSL star, says this has been an eye-opener.

"Myself and Mark Mayambela are here, enjoying it, learning a lot. The journey so far has been tough, and tiring. [It's all] football from about seven in the morning till about nine in the evening, so it's quite strenuous, but also, we're enjoying it," he said.

There’s been an outcry from DStv Premiership coaches that SAFA on the other hand has made no provision for these courses. More spaces, meanwhile, are becoming available in Lesotho between the 4th and 11th of December, as well as between the 8th and 15th of January, before the examinations. Walters and Mayambela have taken the initiative.

"A lot of practical sessions out on the field in the afternoons, lots of theory, lots of assignments. Almost every day you're required to submit an assignment.”

A member of the 2010 World Cup squad, one of Walters’ key observations is how LeFA is enforcing the CAF mandate for their local Premier League coaches.

"There's really some good quality individuals and I think their football is looking to grow. One of the things we admire about this side is to coach in the premier league, you need to be an A-licensed coach."

Notable tacticians have obtained their CAF A license through LeFA, including Royal AM assistant coach Abraham Nteo, Polokwane City head coach Lehlohonolo Seema, and Morena Ramoreboli, who is in charge of Botswana's Jwaneng Galaxy and Bafana coach during the COSAFA Cup in July. Walters hopes to follow in those footsteps.
