The five-time champions, who have won four of the last six tournaments, begin their 2023 campaign against hosts India in Chennai on Sunday.
And Cummins says that the players he has at his disposal who are capable with bat and ball could provide the edge.
"In one-day cricket, more than any of the other formats, you need all-rounders, youve got to try and find 50 overs," he said at his pre-match press conference.
"We feel really blessed to have people like Cam Green, Mitch Marsh, Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis in the side.
"They're like gold¦ they genuinely pick themselves for their batting and their bowling is kind of a bonus."
Despite training on Friday, Stoinis is unlikely to play, however, as he battles a hamstring injury.
India, champions 12 years ago on home soil, could be without the explosive Shubman Gill as he struggles with illness.
Skipper Rohit Sharma will give Gill until the morning of the game to recover.
"Gill is not feeling well, giving him every chance to see how he feels. Not ruled out yet," Sharma said at his press conference.
"Shubman Gill is sick, I feel for him. I want him to be well. As a human being first, not as captain. He is a young boy, has a fit body and he will recover."
