The now 40-year-old Du Plessis joined the capitals after being bought at the player auction in November following three seasons with Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Du Plessis scored 29 from 18 balls at the top of the order as his latest IPL outfit chased down a target of 210 to win with three balls to spare having been nine wickets down.
Du Plessis has already won two IPL titles in his career, with Chennai Super Kings in 2018 and 2021, and wants to add the trophy to the Delhi's cabinet who have yet to win the tournament.
Speaking after the game, Du Plessis said: "Lots of life left in the old dog. New team, new challenge for me. I almost see it as a new chapter you can look forward to.
"Moving from Chennai to RCB was a really good chapter. Now the last chapter of the book, for however long the pages may be, will be with the new team."
Du Plessis and Delhi's next IPL clash will be on Sunday when they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in Visakhapatnam.
