After the visitors had won the toss and opted to bat first at the Wanderers, Sipamla (3-13) put the defending champions on the back foot immediately when he took two wickets in the first over.
The Proteas seamer had England opener Zak Crawley caught at slip with the first ball of the match before knocking over Tom Abell as the Sunrisers were two down for no runs of the board.
Sipamla continued his dream start to the contest, nicking off Jordan Hermann before Viljoen bowled visiting captain Aiden Markram to leave the Sunrisers in tatters at 17-4 in the fourth over.
There was a recovery from the men in orange as David Bedingham (48) and Tristan Stubbs (37) added a 57-run partnership but veteran spinner Imran Tahir broke the stand in the 13th over.
Marco Jansen struck 22 but Viljoen returned to the attack and finished with figures of 4-24 as the Sunrisers were bowled out for a below-par total of 118.
The home team made a positive start to the run-chase with skipper Faf du Plessis (15) and Devon Conway putting on 34 before the former was caught in the deep off the bowling of seamer Beyers Swanepoel.
New Zealand international Conway though looked in good form as he finished on 76 off 56 balls and, together with Wihan Lubbe (25 not out) saw the Super Kings over the line.
The hosts hit the winning runs in the 14th over which means they get a bonus-point to bounce back emphatically after three straight defeats.
