Proteas women looking to level the series against England

Proteas women all-rounder Eliz-Mari Marx is confident that South Africa can bounce back in the second T20 against England at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on Wednesday night.

England secured a four-wicket victory in the first T20 on Sunday. Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Mari-Marx expressed optimism ahead of the clash, vowing to give her best performance when the teams face off again and help level the series at 1-1.

The squad appeared relaxed during their final training session as they made their last preparations for the upcoming match.

''When we look at the batting side, obviously losing wickets didn't help us, also from the bowling point of view - tightening up in the boundary ball, but those are small improvements needed to level the series tomorrow,'' said Marx.

Building on her performance in the opening T20 match, Mari-Marx takes pride in her efforts and carries that confidence into tomorrow’s game. She was pleased with her contribution of 3 wickets and is eager to deliver another strong performance in the second clash.

''I take a lot of confidence from that performance. Being working on my skills at home after the World Cup. I try to always get better,'' added Marx.

Her figures of 3 for 19 against England stand as the best performance of her career to date. She is determined to build on this success and always put her country first whenever given the opportunity to play.

''It is good to perform every time you represent the country. So my focus is to try and do my best and take the opportunity with both hands,'' she expressed.

She anticipates that the surface will be different from the one at Balfour Park Cricket Stadium in Benoni.
