The tourists went down 2-1 in the three-match T20 series with the hosts also taking the ODI series by the same scoreline.
Australia then showed all their class of being the best team in the world with a crushing innings-and-284-run victory in the one-off Test in Perth to round off the tour.
The Proteas Women still however came home having made history as they achieved their first-ever wins over the world champions in any format.
Moreeng said: "There's been a lot of good. You can only be proud of what they've shown. Playing Australia on their home soil is not always easy, but they've shown the grit and the fight throughout.
"This ranks as one of the best we've had because of the fight that we had to keep showing. Every time we had our backs against the wall, we had to keep fighting, somebody had to pull through and be able to come back with the wins that we did.
"So I think you can only build on that and take a lot of confidence out of this.
"Super proud and for us as a team, we can just go back and just make sure that we can keep improving on our shortfalls."
Plenty of the Proteas' players are now on their way to India to take part in the Women's Premier League (WPL) that starts on Friday.
The next assignment for Moreeng and his charges will a home series against Sri Lanka that gets underway in late March.
