The tourists succumbed to a 30-run loss in the second game of the three-match series on Sunday after going down by seven wickets in the first match.
The Proteas are without a host of first-choice players that lost the T20 World Cup final and selected a relatively inexperienced squad for the Windies short-format series.
Teenage fast bowler Kwena Maphaka has looked decent while allrounder Patrick Kruger has stepped up with both bat and ball in various stages in both matches.
Proteas white-ball head coach Rob Walter emphasised before the Windies tour for the need to build squad depth ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka and Hendricks agreed.
"It's great exposure for them in international cricket, with a few players getting opportunities," Hendricks said.
"Now they can see what international cricket is about and some of them have put their hands up and contributed, so there are a lot of positives for those guys.
"From here they can only go from strength to strength and take the learnings from this series going forward."
The Proteas will look to get a consolation victory against West Indies in the third and final T20I that takes place on Tuesday.
