Sharma struck an unbeaten 76 off 45 balls while Suryakumar Yadav was 68 not out off 30 deliveries as Mumbai easily chased down a target of 177 with more than four overs to spare.
It was a third consecutive win for Mumbai as they now sit sixth in the IPL standings after four victories from eight matches this campaign.
Sharma said after the game: "That's what's special about Wankhede, they want to enjoy good cricket and today was a very good game for us. After being here for such a long period of time, it's easy to start doubting yourself and start doing different things.
"For me, it was important to do simple things & have a clear mindset. It was important for me to hold my shape and extend my arms and when the ball was in my area, I had to do what I have been doing.
"It's not easy when you haven't fielded for 17 overs, but I don't mind if my team wants me to come straightaway and bat. I enjoyed being out there⦠for me it's about staying and finishing the game, that's what gives me the most satisfaction.
"We are peaking at the right time and we've won three games in a row. It's a huge honour⦠having played all my cricket here, and now to have that [Rohit Sharma] stand, it's a big honour."
Mumbai's next fixture will be on Wednesday when they travel to Hyderabad to take on the Sunrisers.
