Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Andile Jali has commented on his remarkable season, in which he won three club trophies as well as three individual accolades to bag a 'double treble'.
The 32-year-old has faced plenty of criticism in the past, since returning to South Africa from a four-year stint in Belgium, largely due to his physique and inconsistency on the pitch.
However, he came out strong in the 2021/22 season, featuring in an impressive 40 out of 49 matches for The Brazilians, and helped the team to a domestic treble - the third of his career after achieving the same success back-to-back with Orlando Pirates in 2010/11 and 2011/12.
Added to that, he also scooped the MTN8 Last Man Standing, DStv Premiership Midfielder of the Season, and Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament accolades at the end-of-season PSL Awards.
"I am very excited to be recognised for my determination and passion for the team. These awards would not have been made possible without my teammates and the coaching crew," Jali told the club's online magazine.
"We fought gallantly across every competition we participated in and I am proud to be part of another historic season with Sundowns.
"At a club like Sundowns, you must be ready to compete for trophies at the highest level. Therefore, it is critical to build one™s fitness because of the number of games the team plays every season.
"I am glad that I was able to stay strong and competitive throughout the campaign."
