However, this talented athlete exudes confidence in her ability to finally grasp the coveted title this upcoming weekend.
Sosibo finds herself among the front-runners in the Athletics South Africa (ASA) 10km national championships, set to be at 7 a.m. at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
Her teammate from the Boxer Running Club, Glenrose Xaba, currently holds the defending champion title, will be among her formidable competitors.
Xaba enjoys the advantage of being the local favourite, hailing from Mpumalanga, where the race will unfold.
“As I gear up for the ASA national, I’m diligently working to enhance my performance. My ultimate goal is to secure the national title, a dream I’ve fervently pursued through prayer and unwavering effort. I have faith in my abilities and aspire to be in peak condition on race day. While acknowledging Glenrose’s remarkable talent, I understand that anything can transpire on those crucial days,” Sosibo shared in an interview with SABC Sport.
Sosibo, the reigning champion of the 10km race at the Soweto Marathon last year, is determined to uphold her title this coming Sunday.
However, her path to victory will be quite challenging.
She must make a quick journey to Mbombela on Friday for the ASA nationals and then promptly hit the road again after her race to prepare for the 10km event in Soweto.
Under the guidance of her coach, Michael Seme in Tshwane, Sosibo maintains unwavering confidence in her ability to emerge victorious in both races.
“I must participate in the ASA 10km, as it’s a mandatory event for local runners. While I trust my body to recover in time, I hope that in the future these two races won’t be scheduled so closely together, as it can pose an inconvenience for many athletes,” added Sosibo.
