At only 18, this will be Matthysen's fourth time partaking in the international men’s showpiece - backed by the experience of captain Pietie Norval, Philip Henning and Alec Beckley.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Matthysen says he does not take this opportunity for granted.
"I think it's a very good opportunity, I'm very excited, there aren’t a lot of players my age that were able to play their fourth Davis Cup at 14 years old, so I think that's very exciting," said Matthysen.
The SA Davis Cup squad is expected to start training on Monday.
Matthysen says he looks forward to learning from his seniors at the session.
"I am looking forward to training of course and the training for me is gonna be very good. I don't get to train with these guys much during the year, actually never during the year, it's only the only week that I get to play with them,” he added.
“Maybe another week during the year, so yeah, the training is gonna be very nice. Of course, playing with the captain and all the players is always good. So yeah, I think it's gonna be a really good week training and yeah of course the matches, if I do get the chance to play it will be amazing."
Matthysen says they don’t know what to expect playing against Nigeria, as the opposition squad has not been revealed yet.
"We are not sure about the team exactly the players who are in Nigeria so we can't say how it's gonna be but I'm sure that our team will just do our best and I'm sure that if we do our best we'll have a chance of winning. So, yeah, we will just do our best to try and get the win for the country."
