Kruger earned a recognition from Gsport as one of the 2024 newsmakers this week, alongside Kgothatso Montjane, Courtnae Paul and Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Kruger says her greatest highlight this year was breaking a world record and winning two gold medals at the Paris Paralympics.
"Well, I had an amazing year, I don’t think I could have asked for a better year because going to World Champs in Japan and then winning the gold and breaking the world record was such an amazing thing,” Kruger said.
“And then Paralympics coming afterwards, then breaking the Paralympic world record and winning a gold medal there. I don't think I could have asked for a better year, so, I just had an amazing year but I had so much support behind me, I don't think I would have been able to do it without the support."
Kruger shares her thoughts on being one of the 10 Gsport 2024 newsmakers recipients.
"I feel honoured to be honoured as the 2024 Newsmaker because I know there's only a few people that are honoured in their life with those. So, it's just amazing to be a part of that small group," she added.
The 19-year-old also shared her ambitions ahead of the 2025 World Para-Athletics Championships to be hosted in India next year, saying she is aiming for gold.
"My goal is definitely to win the gold medal but we are going to take it day by day because the World Champs I heard are really late in the year, so I'm actually very excited for it."
