The national coaches workshop powered by Netball South Africa has been hosted in various parts of South Africa, having resumed in Gqeberha then moved to Cape Town and now in Gauteng.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Mdodana confirmed the program is coach Jenny van Dyk’s idea - with the aim of developing a South African identity in netball and to also use the platform to share insights regarding their four-year plan with the national team.
"So, these coaches’ workshops were actually Jenny van Dyk's idea, for us to be able to go around the country and become accessible as national coaches and share what our coaching plan is for the next four years,” Mdodana said.
“Also to share insight on what we are doing currently with the Proteas and what we want to have the coaches at a grassroots level basically to focus on key things that we want our players to be empowered with.
“A certain way of playing the game because we are trying to come up with a South African way of playing netball because many other countries have their own identity."
Mdodana further unpacked their different roles with Van Dyk in how they conduct the program.
"Yes, I am working with Jenny, it's amazing because she covers more of the attacking side of things and I do the defence and then we share some nuggets on how we approach certain aspects of the game,” she added.
“The key focus for us is the ability to be able to win, let's say the last three minutes of every quarter, that we have a strategy and a plan for that and how we prepare and create as many scenarios as possible for our players to be able to deal with all the different pressures."
