The 20-year-old Rune was responding to post match questions about his potential mixed doubles partnership with Wozniacki after defeating George Loffhagen 7-6(4) 6-3 6-2 on Wednesday on Number 3 Court at Wimbledon.
Wozniacki, who had quit the professional game three years ago, told ESPN on Monday that one of her main goals is to compete at the 2024 Olympics mixed doubles with Holger Rune and to win a medal for her country.
Rune responded to ESPN after being informed of one time Grand Slam winner's plans to return to the tour at the Montreal Open and her Olympic dream.
"It's so good," said the world number six.
"I was so happy when she said that. It could be very very funny (playing mixed doubles). You know I'm super happy she's coming back. I saw her at the French Open and she looked in very very good shape.
I don't know, I was thinking, and I actually told my mum like she's just in that good shape or she's thinking about something and she did so it's really great. I'm super happy for her," said the four-time ATP Tour title winner.
The United States Tennis Association announced last Thursday that Wozniacki will receive a wildcard for the year's final major, with the former WTA top seed confirming that she will play at the US Open.
In the meantime, Rune marches on to the second round at Wimbledon and will take on number 57-ranked Roberto Carballes Baena or 22-year-old qualifier Matteo Arnaldi tomorrow.
