Toni Nadal expresses support for Jannik Sinner amid doping scandal

Toni Nadal has shown his support for Jannik Sinner following the Italian player's three-month suspension due to doping allegations.

The suspension comes after widespread discussions about the sanctions placed on the young tennis talent, who tested positive for Clostebol.

At a press conference for the Mallorca Championships, Nadal spoke out in defense of Sinner, stating that he did not believe the player intended to cheat.

"I am against the sanction. I know Sinner personally, and I am certain he did not mean to commit any wrongdoing. You cannot punish someone for an accidental error. Sanctions should be directed at those who intentionally engage in dishonest actions for personal advantage, and I can guarantee that is not the case with Sinner," the Mallorcan stressed.

In response to these comments, Toni Nadal also addressed criticism from other players, including Nick Kyrgios, who has voiced his opinions on the matter.

"It's been noted that players who aren't ranked number one have been punished in the past, which was a mistake. I'm surprised that some players, including those at the highest level and others with less-than-clean records, have taken a stance against Sinner," he commented.

Furthermore, Nadal spoke about the upcoming tribute being organized to honor his nephew's remarkable career.

"The tribute from Roland Garros is a source of great joy for the family. Rafael is delighted to receive such an honor. I know they have been working on it for a while, and I believe it will be a meaningful recognition.

"For Rafael to be acknowledged in France, at the place where he has had the most success, is incredibly fulfilling. I'm not sure if there will be other tributes, but this one is extremely significant for him," he added.
