Antoine Dupont and Hugo Keenan set for Madrid Sevens

Antoine Dupont and Hugo Keenan are set to run out for France and Ireland respectively at the inaugural HSBC SVNS 2024 Grand Final in Madrid.

Dupont is coming off another mercurial performance as he guided Toulouse to a record sixth Champions Cup title on Saturday. World Rugby all but confirmed the No.9's appearance in a statement on Monday.

"Last Saturday, the undisputed world's best men's 15s player bent a remarkable Champions Cup final to his will, as Toulouse beat Leinster in London to lift the trophy for a record sixth time," it read in part.

"He and his teammates were back on French soil late Saturday night. On Sunday evening, he celebrated with fans in the Capitole, in the heart of Toulouse. On Monday, he returned to the France Sevens squad to prepare for the HSBC SVNS 2024 series finale in Madrid.

"In Los Angeles earlier this year, France recorded their first tournament success since 2005, with Dupont very much to the fore. They have their eyes on the Olympic Games Paris 2024 â- and a more immediate prize, right here."

Meanwhile, Ireland Sevens Head Coach Topping has named a 13-man squad for this weekend's action at the Metropolitano Stadium, home of Atletico Madrid, with Keenan included in the travelling party.

Keenan, a key member of Andy Farrell's Ireland XVs side in recent seasons, links up with the Ireland Men's Sevens squad five years after winning the last of his 12 Ireland Sevens caps, while Connacht winger Smith was an outstanding performer for Topping's side on the Series last year.

During his two years in the Sevens programme, Keenan was a regular presence throughout the key moments on Ireland's journey to HSBC SVNS Series qualification â- a memorable third-place finish as an invitational team in London, to the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco, and then World Series qualification in Hong Kong in 2019.

Dupont and Keenan have one eye on making their national Sevens squads for the Paris Olympic Games in July.
