Darcy Swain recommits to Australian rugby

As part of the new deal, Swain will move to the Force ahead of the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season after spending six seasons with the ACT Brumbies in Canberra.

The 200cm lock made his Wallabies debut in 2021, playing in every match during the victorious three-Test series over France, and going on to wear the gold jersey 10 times during his first year of International rugby. In 2022, he featured in a further seven Tests for his country.

Born in the small town of Babinda in Far North Queensland, the 26-year-old grew up in Cairns before moving to Brisbane Boys College to continue his high school education, where he was a schoolmate of fellow Wallaby Len Ikitau.

Searching for further opportunities after school, Swain made the move to Canberra in 2016 to join the ACT Brumbies Academy and Tuggeranong Vikings, going on to captain the Brumbies under-20s side, earn selection in the Australian under-20s and play for the Canberra Vikings in the National Rugby Championship.

In 2019 he earned a Super Rugby contract with the Brumbies and was part of the squad that won the 2020 Super Rugby AU title.

He has since gone on to play a total of 67 matches over six seasons with the club and has captained the side during their current campaign.

It was a tough decision to move on and I'll be putting my full focus into making this season a successful one."
