This dominant 40-0 victory has kept their hopes alive, and the team now turns their attention to their crucial final pool match in Paris against Racing 92.
The Stormers' win was a much-needed boost after a season that has seen their flair sometimes lacking. However, in this match, they delivered a clinical and confident performance, with several players returning from injury to strengthen the team. The backline, led by the dynamic Warrick Gelant, showed the kind of attacking brilliance that had been missing earlier in the campaign. Their defense was just as impressive, with the hosts denying Sale Sharks any points while scoring six tries of their own on a perfect day at DHL Stadium.
Sitting on five points in the pool, the Stormers are in a tight battle for the remaining qualification spots. Racing 92 is just one point behind them, making next week's match a must-win if they are to progress to the Round of 16. With Glasgow Warriors and Toulon already qualified, the Stormers must now focus on securing a victory in Paris to keep their European aspirations alive.
Stormers head coach John Dobson is undeterred by the challenge ahead and is ready to go "flat out" in the final pool match.
"We'll go for it next week - we have to," said Dobson. "There's not one game we won't [give our all in]. We'll definitely be going for it, no question. Either playing for a place in the Challenge Cup or a place in the last 16."
Dobson also hinted that he may rotate players to manage workloads, particularly ahead of the upcoming Vodacom United Rugby Championship clash with Leinster in Dublin, but emphasized that the team will leave everything on the field in Paris.
"We pride ourselves on making the playoffs in every competition we've been in, and we'll be absolutely determined to keep that record intact," he added.
