It was a promising return to form for the Stormers who dominated a youthful Leinster 42-12 in Cape Town during Round 15 which was a massive improvement on a frustrating loss to Ospreys the week before.
The Stormers move up to fifth in the congested United Rugby Championship table but only have six more points than the Lions who are in 11th showcasing how tight the playoff race is.
Dobson admits the side is still counting the cost of the Ospreys loss despite getting five points against Leinster, in his the Stormers need to win every game on tour.
"The devastation of that result against Ospreys was that we could have finished that weekend two points behind the Bulls, looking for a home play-off. That's pretty much unrecoverable. Now it's a must-win tour," he said.
"We've never had that sort of feeling before; our level of desperation. We are taking our Springboks. This will be a different mindset from the first tour. It's full metal jacket to try win every game."
Star tighthead and one of the team's leaders Neethling Fouche is happy with how the Stormers bounced back against Leinster and insisted the Capetonians can make a strong charge in the competition with the playoff stages looming.
"We weren't happy with last week's performance particularly in the scrums and we let our fans down," the tight head prop said. "We just wanted to come out and give them something to smile about.
"We still believe in ourselves. We haven't hit our straps the way we wanted but there is confidence brewing. We can be dangerous going to the end of the competition."
It is crunch time for the Stormers who travel to the Dragons and then Connacht before hosting the dangerous Lions in the final round of the regular season.
One would think two wins are enough to secure a playoff spot to the Stormers will want a clean sweep to try to capitalise on any mistakes from the top four sides above them.
