The former Lions playmaker has travelled down the N3 to join his brother Jaden in the iconic black and white strip. But in truth, it is a homecoming for the younger of the two brothers, who were schooled in Durban.
In fact, when they eventually run out together, it will be the first time they're in the same kit since their days at Glenwood High School.
"I'm very excited about the new season at the Sharks," said the 23-year-old via Roc Nation on X.
"Going back to Durbs, you know, it's where me and my brother's journey all started. His kicked on immediately, mine took a bit of time. I'm just blessed to go back and join him and hopefully play a couple of games with him and just make history.
"We always had this rivalry of playing against each other. Now, as a family, we can support one team. I know our dad is looking down on us with a smile, being so proud of us.
"We just want to put some action on and for people to put on their 3D glasses: you're just going to see a movie. That's what's going to happen."
In an act of good faith, Hendrikse was released early from his contract by the Lions in order to be with his family in Durban. With the Currie Cup season already underway, Hendrikse will make his Sharks debut soon enough.
