Stormers fall flat as they suffer big defeat against Edinburgh in URC clash

The Stormers could not contain a second half surge from Edinburgh as the hosts triumphed 38-7 in their United Championship (URC) clash at the Hive in Scotland.

The home side took a narrow 14-7 lead into the halftime break thanks to tries by from Patrick Harrison and Ben Muncaster while Ruhan Nel went over for the Stormers.

The second half however was one-way traffic as the Scottish outfit scored 24 unanswered points with Darcy Graham and Grant Gilchrist crossing, as well as a second Muncaster try.

Ross Thompson also had good outing with the boot as he added 13 points from the kicking tee as Edinburgh ended a three-match losing run.

The result sees the Stormers return to South Africa with one win and five points from their season-opening three-match tour to Europe.

Next up for the Cape side will be a first home game of the season against Irish team Munster at the DHL Stadium.
