URC: Bulls score nine tries to power to victory against Italian side Zebre

The Bulls put in a powerful performance to overwhelm Zebre 63-24 in their United Rugby Championship (URC) clash played at Loftus on Saturday.

The home side scored nine tries in the contest to the Italian outfit's three and had a commanding 28-10 at the halftime interval.

The Bulls were 14-0 ahead in the first 15 minutes with tries through Sergeal Petersen ad Zak Burger while flyhalf Keagan Johannes succeeded with two conversions.

Zebre hit back when wing Jacopo Trulla scored a try and Giovanni Montemauri converted while scrumhalf Alessandro Fusco added a drop goal to further reduce the deficit.

The Bulls though added another two tries before the end of the first half through wing Stravino Jacobs and hooker Jan-Hendrik Wessels while Johannes added the extras from the kicking tee.

The Italian side were very much still in the contest Montemauri went over early in the second half but the game was taken away in the final 20 minutes.

The Bulls scored four tries in the second half, three in the final quarter, to go past the 60-point mark and make scoreboard rather flattering.

The Bulls return to EPCR action next week when they travel to France for their round of 16 Challenge Cup clash against Bayonne.
