UWC are currently two points clear at the summit of the log and still have a game in hand with a 100% winning record of seven wins in as many matches.
With their next test against TS Galaxy Queens this weekend, Tshabalala believes this month could have a huge say in how the title race ultimately shapes up.
"It's still early days. You know what I like... People are looking at Sundowns vs UWC, we've got to look at other teams that are there – the likes of TS Galaxy, University of Pretoria, Royal AM," Tshabala defended.
"When I look at the fixtures and the teams that we've played, and I compare it to the teams UWC have played, come the month of April, let's see if they can keep that 100 percent record.
"I really like the month of April for UWC, and I like the month of April for Mamelodi Sundowns. Yes, we're not scoring goals, there are those team that can give us chances to score five or six, and let's see if they [UWC] can't drop points."
One of the biggest challenges for Sundowns in their first eight matches this season has been finding the back of the net, having scored 15 goals fewer than UWC, who have managed 28 goals so far.
"Ja, look, sometimes... It's more or less similar to last season. Seasons are more or less the same, it's just [about] how we apply ourselves," said the coach.
"But it's a pity that we have too many players out [injured]. The season is going to be a bit challenging, in terms of the injuries we're getting, but I'm hoping that in the next four to five weeks, we'll have a full so squad so that we can compete nicely.
"But this season's going to be very tough, it's going to be a very challenging season. Everyone feels like they stand a chance to win it."
