Achraf Hakimi becomes world's highest-paid right-back after PSG contract extension

Morocco international Achraf Hakimi has officially become the highest-paid right-back in the world after signing a contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Footboom1.com, Hakimi, who also serves as one of PSG's captains, has extended his stay at the French giants until June 2029. His salary will rise from 10 million euros net per season to 14 million net, making him the highest-earning right-back in football history.

Hakimi's contract renewal had been in the works for several months. During this period, Real Madrid inquired about re-signing the defender when Dani Carvajal suffered a serious injury.

However, they were informed that PSG had already reached a firm agreement with the Moroccan star, shutting down any possibility of a transfer.

This extension is part of a strategic move by PSG, who have also confirmed new deals for head coach Luis Enrique and three other key players.

Since joining PSG in 2021, Hakimi has been a key figure in the squad. His performances this season have been impressive, having played in 16 of PSG's 21 league matches, scoring two goals, and featuring in the UEFA Champions League, where he has netted once in eight matches.

As he approaches his 30th birthday, the talented full-back remains a pivotal figure in PSG's future plans. His deep connection with the Arab world, particularly given PSG's Qatari ownership, further solidifies his importance to the club's global identity.

A recent photo featuring Hakimi, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Luis Enrique, and club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi symbolized his growing stature within the team.

With this extension, PSG have secured Hakimi's peak years, ensuring they continue to benefit from his exceptional performances for seasons to come.
