Adnan Beganovic's big goal of returning TS Galaxy to CAF football

TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic has explained how he managed to turn around his club's fortunes this season, from what looked like fighting for survival to now chasing a top-three spot.

Beganovic was speaking to the media after engineering a strong comeback against Kaizer Chiefs at the New Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane this past Saturday and ended the game with a one-all draw.

Beganovic took over as the head coach following the resignation of then-head coach Sead Ramovic in November last year.

Beganovic says initially, they were fighting for survival and then moved to new targets.

"In the beginning, I remember on the 14th of November when I signed the contract and took over as head coach of TS Galaxy, I said, this club does not deserve to be at the bottom, at least it can be ninth, 10th position on the log,” Beganovic said.

“And then I put that goal, first for survival, to push the team a little bit up and then when we reached the first five games, I said it's not enough, I want to fight for the top eight."

Beganovic had been an assistant coach to Ramovic for two years, they were winless and bottom of the log after six matches when he took over.

After witnessing his team's potential, he now says their main target is to return the Rockets to a CAF Inter-Club competition.

"Because I saw my team have strength, have quality to be at least in the top eight spot and after 13 or 14 unbeaten games, I said we needed to change our goal to put it a little bit high but there's no point in staying in one place and trying to survive,” the coach added.

“I can't accept that, I said I want to try and reach our dreams. Our dream now are CAF competitions."
