The public broadcaster reported the news of Zuma’s move to Usuthu in June last year after he parted company with Kaizer Chiefs under a dark cloud – and it was revealed then he’d put pen to paper on a four-year deal.
“But that agreement has an option, which is at the club’s discretion to exercise. AmaZulu are in a precarious position at the moment and I understand the club’s stance on wanting to find their way to safety first,” explained agent Basia Michaels.
Usuthu are in 11th place with three DStv Premiership matches remaining and are still in danger of being relegated, mathematically speaking.
“Once they are safe, we can deal with contract issues. It’s unfortunately uncharted waters and we have to deal with whatever may be thrown at us,” Michaels adds.
Zuma has made 20 appearances in all competitions for AmaZulu since his arrival, scoring just once under three different coaches in Brandon Truter, Romain Folz and now Ayanda Dlamini at the helm.
Should AmaZulu opt against triggering the option to keep Zuma, it would mean another busy season for Michaels to find the former junior international a new home.
