Former Real Sociedad player Alvaro Odriozola could potentially depart from Real Madrid and rejoin his former club this summer, as reported by MARCA.
Odriozola's contract with Real Madrid is set to expire in 2024; however, the defender is reportedly eager to secure more playing time elsewhere.
Currently, Odriozola's services are deemed surplus to requirements at Real Madrid. With Carvajal, Lucas Vazquez, and Nacho ahead of him in the rotation, the club is prepared to respect his decision regarding his future.
Consequently, Sociedad would not be obligated to pay a transfer fee for the acquisition of the right-back from Madrid.
Another player facing a similar situation is centre-back Jesus Vallejo, and it remains to be seen if Real Madrid can successfully offload these contracts during the summer transfer window, given their diminished importance within the current squad.
However, it is unlikely that any other club would be willing to match their current salaries in Madrid, requiring both players to accept a reduction in wages should they opt to leave the Spanish capital this summer.
