AmaZulu make light work of lacklustre Cape Town City

AmaZulu claimed their second consecutive victory with a convincing 2-0 win over Cape Town City at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.

It is a winning start for Arthur Zwane, who became sole head coach of AmaZulu after previous co-coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi's sudden departure during the week.

The result propelled Usuthu into fifth place in the Betway Premiership standings, as they secured their tenth victory of the season, with a goal in each half. On the other hand, City's winless streak was extended to seven games, suffering their sixth loss in the past seven fixtures.

Elmo Kambindu, the club's January signing, continued his impressive start in Durban, breaking the deadlock after 23 minutes following a period of sustained pressure from AmaZulu.

The Namibian forward netted his third goal for the team, finishing a low cross from Tshepang Moremi, who had made a brilliant run into the box from a long distance before providing the assist.

In the second half, AmaZulu doubled their advantage, this time through another January recruit, Nkosikhona Radebe. The full-back, who had been in excellent form, scored his second goal in as many matches by arriving late at the back post to finish a well-executed flicked header. His goal further solidified AmaZulu's hopes of securing all three points at home.

The match highlighted the stark contrast between the two teams, with AmaZulu in a confident run, having defeated Magesi the previous week, while City were struggling with their ongoing winless streak. The home side was determined to keep the momentum going, particularly after the recent departure of coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi.

Although AmaZulu dominated possession early on, City had the first real chance in the sixth minute. Jaedin Rhodes was on the receiving end of a fast break but, after a feint to bypass defenders, he sent a weak shot that was comfortably collected by AmaZulu goalkeeper Richards Ofori.

From that point on, AmaZulu controlled the game, effectively using their 3-5-2 formation to exploit the wings and cause problems for City. By halftime, AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane may have been slightly frustrated that his side hadn't converted more of their chances into goals.

On the City bench, coach Muhsin Ertugral's decision not to make any substitutions at halftime was surprising, especially considering players like Thabo Nodada, Kamohelo Mokotjo, and Fortune Makaringe had been warming up prior to the break.

Despite their efforts to get back into the match, City appeared to lack confidence and struggled to create any meaningful threats, leaving AmaZulu with a comfortable win.
