The Barcelona forward was ruled out this week after suffering a muscle injury to his right hamstring, with a recovery period expected to last around four weeks.
This setback means he is likely to miss crucial fixtures before the winter break, adding further uncertainty to his already difficult campaign.
Fati's future at Barcelona has been in doubt for some time, and this latest injury has made matters even more complicated.
Earlier this year, Fati struggled to find his form, leading to limited opportunities under then manager Xavi Hernandez. The injury blow has come at a time when his potential departure seemed more likely, especially with winter transfer rumours swirling around his name.
One club that had shown interest in signing him this winter, Fenerbahce, have now decided to rule out a move. Despite the injury, the Turkish side's coach, Jose Mourinho, had already made the decision to pass on Fati before the setback occurred.
The hamstring problem merely added to the doubts surrounding the 21-year-old's fitness and ability to contribute at the highest level.
Mourinho had considered signing Fati in the summer, but the move never materialised after the player was sidelined with a foot injury before the start of the season. Even though Fati was still on Fenerbahce's radar, his inconsistent performances since his return to action have made the deal increasingly unlikely.
Fati's inability to make a significant impact on the pitch, compounded by fierce competition from Barcelona's attacking trio of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, has left his future uncertain.
His latest injury marks the third serious setback in just one year, following a foot injury that saw him sidelined for over two months while on loan at Brighton. With such a string of misfortunes, the young talent's prospects at both Barcelona and in the transfer market remain unclear.
