Barcelona leap ahead of Bayern Munich in race for Jonathan Tah signature

Bayer Leverkusen's experienced defender Jonathan Tah appears to be on the brink of a move to Barcelona rather than Bayern Munich, where he was previously linked.

Tah, now 28, had negotiations with Bayern last summer, but the transfer collapsed due to unresolved terms between the clubs.

As Tah's contract with Leverkusen is set to expire in the summer of 2025, it seems inevitable that he will depart. However, instead of joining Bayern, recent reports from Catalan newspapers like Sport and Mundo Deportivo have indicated that negotiations with Barcelona are well advanced.

Italian transfer insider Fabrizio Romano and German publication Sport Bild have both confirmed that Barcelona are making significant strides in securing Tah's signature, with a long-term contract until 2030 being discussed.

Meanwhile, in other Bayern Munich news, midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic has spoken about the support he received from coach Vincent Kompany during his recovery from a broken collarbone.

The injury occurred in a match against Stuttgart in mid-October, sidelining Pavlovic for several weeks. "He's great for us players because he's been through almost every situation as a player," Pavlovic said in an interview with AZ.

He added, "Especially when you're injured, he talks to you a lot and makes you feel like you're still part of the team."

Pavlovic has expressed his gratitude for the year 2024, stating, "I am very happy that I was able to come back quickly after the injury and play again. I'm very grateful for 2024." Since returning to action, he has featured in four out of Bayern's last five games, making a strong comeback after his injury against Leverkusen on December 3.

These developments paint a picture of a dynamic transfer window where Barcelona are poised to bolster their defense with Tah's experience, while Bayern continue to nurture their squad under the compassionate leadership of Kompany.
