Barcelona not convinced Lille's Jonathan David would be a good signing

The 24-year-old, currently playing for Ligue 1 side Lille, is out of contract in the summer of 2024 and would be available on a free transfer, a prospect that is catching the attention of many top clubs.

David has had an impressive season so far, with 13 goals and 2 assists in just 19 appearances. His performances in the Champions League have also been notable, scoring 4 goals in the competition.

However, Barcelona remains undecided on whether David has the quality to succeed at the highest level.

The club's sporting director, Deco, is keen to determine whether the forward could be a "top signing" and whether his playing style would fit into Barcelona's tactics.

David himself has expressed interest in a move to the Spanish giants, but it is understood that he would likely be considered as an alternative to Robert Lewandowski rather than a starting striker.

This role could present challenges, particularly as playing as a back-up forward at a club like Barcelona often limits match rhythm.
