Barcelona have reportedly placed emphasis on offloading misfiring forward Ferran Torres during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Gabriel Sans of Mundo Deportivo reports that the La Liga champions would willingly part ways with the Spaniard if offers in the region of ¬40 million materialize.
Torres, who joined Barça in last year's winter window from Manchester City for a fee of ¬55 million plus add-ons, has failed to meet expectations during his time in Catalonia.
With a meagre tally of just 14 goals in over 70 matches, his performance has left much to be desired. Currently, Torres finds himself behind Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Ousmane Dembele in the pecking order.
Furthermore, with Vitor Roque set to join the club, Torres' playing time is likely to diminish further. Consequently, Barcelona are hopeful of parting ways with the Spanish international, despite reports suggesting that coach Xavi Hernandez values him for the upcoming season.
The report suggests that Barcelona are aiming to secure a transfer fee of approximately ¬40 million for the former Manchester City and Valencia attacker.
However, Torres remains determined to stay and succeed at Barcelona. During the winter window, Newcastle United made an offer of around ¬60 million, which he declined, and his stance remains unchanged.
Nevertheless, Barcelona's primary objective is to remove him from the squad and potentially replace him with Yannick Carrasco. The La Liga champions hold a ¬16 million purchase option for the Atletico Madrid winger and have expressed interest in securing his services, albeit not as a top priority.
