Barcelona ramp up Camp Nou revival

Barcelona supporters have known since last week that a return to the Spotify Camp Nou won't happen this season, with the Catalan giants set to see out the 2024-25 campaign at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium.

However, the club are pulling out all the stops to speed up the renovation works at their iconic home. As of this Monday, a new 15-day licence has kicked in, allowing round-the-clock construction work, according to local outlet beteve.

This deal, struck between Barcelona and the Les Corts District, applies from Monday to Friday and runs until 7 April. On Saturdays, work can take place from 10am to 8pm.

Over these two weeks, the city council will keep a close eye on things, ensuring noise limits and other agreed terms are met. If all goes to plan, there's a chance the arrangement could be extended.

Earlier this month, Barcelona provided an update on the project, revealing they've already laid the groundwork for the pitch. Drainage systems for rainwater, aeration for the turf, and cooling for the grass roots are now in place.

The club have since moved on to installing the heating and cooling systems for the future playing surface.

The Camp Nou redevelopment has faced its fair share of setbacks. Originally slated for a November return, the timeline slipped first to late January, then to April or May.

Now, it's clear no matches will be played there this term. Still, with 24-hour work now permitted, Barcelona are determined to fast-track the job and get their beloved stadium ready as soon as possible.

A recent X post from @BarcaTimes on 24 March noted, "Barcelona's non-stop work at Camp Nou is a game-changer. Fans are buzzing about the progress, could we see an earlier return than expected?"

The sentiment reflects growing optimism among the fanbase as the club push forward.
