Barcelona's brilliant display secures Copa del Rey quarter-final spot

Barcelona showcased their dominance in the Copa del Rey, defeating Real Betis 5-1 at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium in the Round of 16 on Wednesday.

Goals from Gavi (3'), Jules Kounde (27'), Raphinha (58'), Ferran Torres (67'), and Lamine Yamal (75') sealed the victory, with Vitor Roque netting a late consolation for Betis in the 84th minute.

Hansi Flick, Barcelona's manager, expressed his satisfaction after the match. "Today's win against Betis was significant, especially after our victory over Real Madrid. We've seen what this team is capable of," Flick said.

He highlighted the team's performance despite limited training due to travel. "We didn't train on Monday; we only had one session yesterday. The performance was strong from the start, and we controlled the game."

On the tactical choice of Dani Olmo playing as a false nine, Flick noted, "Dani knows very well how to play that role. He has done so for the national team. I spoke with him. Lewandowski wasn't an option; I gave him time to recover. Our strategy was effective; we controlled the ball and maintained good spacing."

Gavi drew comparisons between Lamine Yamal and Messi, sparking Flick's endorsement. "Gavi is always very emotional. I agree with him; Yamal's talent is evident. He's in great form, but we need to take care of him. He's very young," Flick commented.

The coach also praised Pedri, saying, "He's everywhere on the pitch. He understands football, knows how to combine plays. It's beautiful to watch him. His stats show he runs a lot and does fantastic things with the ball. His evolution is crucial for us."

Regarding Ronald Araujo, Flick added, "He has a year and a half left on his contract. I had no doubts about him. I'm happy he's here. Today, he showed his value again. His return has been noticed by both the defense and the team."

Flick also commended Gavi's all-around contribution. "I like how he presses and controls the game. He's dynamic alongside Raphinha. He understands his role well, both defensively and offensively."

The atmosphere created by the fans was not lost on Flick. "I hope they enjoyed it. Seeing the lights of the mobile phones raised was a joy. There was a great atmosphere. When the players perform well and give their all, the fans respond. It's very good to see this connection."

Looking ahead to La Liga, Flick was optimistic. "Our aim is to keep this momentum going in La Liga. We'll try to do so. We always aim to progress step by step, match by match. We want to play and win."

Frenkie de Jong's performance was another positive note, with Flick stating, "I'm very happy. He performed well. I've had the chance to speak with him, and he's happy."

Regarding Ansu Fati's absence, Flick explained, "Our squad fits together, not everyone, but most do. With fewer injuries, I have to make decisions based on training. It's not easy for him. He started the season well, got injured... he needs to train, come back, give his all, and show improvement."

Finally, on Robert Lewandowski, Flick humorously remarked, "If Szczesny doesn't play, neither does he. No, I'm joking. He needed some rest."
