Turkish giants Galatasaray stepped up with a loan-deal offer for Kessie, including an option to purchase at the end of the season, but Barcelona have reportedly turned it down, holding out for a permanent transfer, as reported by SPORT.
A year has passed since Kessie joined Catalonia as a free agent from AC Milan. Yet, limited game-time due to fierce competition in the midfield made it challenging for the 26-year-old during his debut season with the club.
Kessie managed to showcase his skills in the few appearances he had, but the arrival of Ilkay Gundogan suggests his playing time is unlikely to improve this season. Furthermore, Barcelona's financial situation necessitates player sales, making Kessie's departure probable.
However, Barcelona have set their terms and will only entertain offers for a permanent transfer, dismissing proposals similar to Galatasaray's loan offer with an option to buy. The La Liga champions are seeking a reported figure of at least ¬30 million for Kessie, and there are clubs in Saudi Arabia showing interest in the Ivory Coast international.
Deco, the newly-appointed sporting director at Barcelona, considers Kessie a valuable player due to his profile and is determined not to undersell him. If offers meeting the club's demands do not materialize, there remains a possibility of Kessie staying with the Blaugrana.
In the coming weeks, Kessie's future will undoubtedly draw further attention as the transfer window unfolds. The intrigue lies in whether any club will meet Barcelona's demands, or if the talented midfielder will remain a part of their plans for the upcoming season.
