The injury, sustained during Bayern's 1-0 DFB-Pokal loss to Bayer Leverkusen, has ruled out the 38-year-old veteran from further participation this year.
"He has broken a rib and probably won't play again this year," Kompany stated during a press conference ahead of Bayern's Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk.
"The important thing is that he now heals. Hopefully, we'll have Manu back in January."
Neuer, widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in football, joined Bayern from Schalke 04 in 2011 and has been a cornerstone of the team ever since.
However, recent injuries and inconsistent performances have raised questions about his long-term future as Bayern's first-choice shot-stopper.
Stepping into the void is Daniel Peretz, who impressed after replacing Neuer during the Leverkusen defeat and in the subsequent 4-2 Bundesliga victory over Heidenheim.
Kompany expressed confidence in the 23-year-old Israeli goalkeeper. "I'd never ask a player to be a copy of another," Kompany said. "He has earned his minutes. Obviously, we'd like Manuel fit, but there's no change to our game with Peretz.
"He's earned his place."
Meanwhile, reports from Kicker suggest Bayern are close to extending Neuer's contract, which currently expires in 2025.
The club are reportedly finalising details for a one-year extension, likely to be announced before the year ends.
Despite the injury setback, Neuer's leadership and experience remain valued assets for Bayern as they continue to compete on multiple fronts this season.
