Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano says future to be decided after Euro 2024

Dayot Upamecano admits he is unsure over whether her will remain at Bayern Munich after losing his regular starting berth in the side in the latter half of the season and that he will know his fate after the European Championships.

Bayern are reluctant to part ways with Upamecano as they consider the former RB Leipzig defender as a key player for the future. Retaining him is a priority for new Bayern boss Vincent Kompany, although he faces stiff competition from fellow centre-backs Matthijs De Ligt, Kim Min-Jae and Eric Dier.

Despite Upamecano's contract running until 2026, he might be open to a new challenge, as reported by L'equipe.

After three years at Bayern, his attention is currently on other matters. The centre-back is expected to be a starter for France in the upcoming Euro 2024, and his primary focus is on international duty.

"My future? I am focused on the Euros and we'll see at the end of the Euros with Bayern," he stated in a press conference on Wednesday.

According to reports, Bayern have already agreed personal terms with Bayer Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah to add even more competition for the centre-back position.
