The 27-year-old player is eager to depart from the Allianz Arena, seeking a fresh challenge after achieving numerous triumphs since his arrival in Bavaria from Stuttgart in 2019.
Manchester United, on the other hand, are actively pursuing a new centre-back as they endeavour to transfer Harry Maguire to West Ham United in a £30million arrangement. Within their extensive list of potential transfer targets, Pavard's name holds a prominent position.
Earlier, United had initiated discussions with Bayern regarding a deal for Pavard, who is versatile in both right-back and centre-back roles. They were working towards a valuation of the World Cup winner at £30million.
However, sources have confirmed that Bayern have communicated to Manchester United their revised stance, setting the asking price at £34.5million plus supplementary incentives for Pavard.
Pavard is thought to be discontent with this change in Bayern's position. Allegedly, personal terms were tentatively agreed upon for his move to Old Trafford, and United have also expressed surprise at the altered terms.
Negotiations between the two parties are ongoing, with Manchester United particularly motivated to reach a resolution. Nevertheless, Bayern's inability to secure Kyle Walker from Manchester City might lead the Bundesliga powerhouse to reconsider their position regarding the potential sale.
United are also considering other alternatives to bolster Erik ten Hag's squad depth, including Jean-Clair Todibo, Perr Schuurs, Jarrad Branthwaite, Edmond Tapsoba, and Benfica's Antonio Silva. However, these players do not offer the same versatility in terms of positional options as Pavard does.
